The first Latin-American and European conference on Sustainble Buildings and Communities Euro-ELECS 2014 will be held on 21-23 July 2015, in Guimarães, in Portugal. This event is the evolution of several previous ELECS whish started in 1997 and were held biannually since 2001. Euro-ELECs 2015 is a innovative scientific event that aimsto bridge the gap between the academic environment, society, theory and practice connecting European countries and the countries of Latin America.

Guimarães is an historical city with an important role on the birth of Portugal. It was settled in the 9th century and its historical centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is often called the “birthplace of the Portuguese nationality”. Also, Guimarães was the 2012 European Capital of Culture, the 2013 European City of Sport and is preparing the application to the 2017 European Green Capital Award.

Submission of papers should be either in English or Portuguese or Spanish. 23 conference themes are proposed and range from “Innovation and improvement of sustainable construction materials or systems”, to “Sustainable design solutions”, “Sustainable building technology and management” and “Nearly zero energy buildings”, among others.

All paper accepted to Euro-ELECS 2015 will be published in the Conference Proceedings. The best papers will be proposed to be published in the following journals: International Journal of Sustainable Building Technology and Urban Development, Revista Ambiente Construido, Revista Hábitat Sustentable.
